lens selection for Angkor trip

i’m considering to buy one (and only one) new lens for the trip. I got 2 options in mind:

1. DA 35mm 2.8 macro
prime macro lens equivalent to 50mm macro in 135 format. thinking to use it for shooting sculpture. Question is if it’s worth to shoot close-up of those stone sculpture?

2. DA 50 – 135mm 2.8
a tele-zoom motor-driven lens rendering vivid and exotic color and good bokeh as well. Good for portrait, e.g. monk. Question is if people there welcome photo-taking on them? and if 50-135mm long enough?
